Sue Hodges

Sue Hodges is an Honorary Research Fellow in History at the University of Melbourne and has worked for a wide variety of public and private sector organisations. This includes roles as Curator of the ANZ Banking Museum, Field Historian and Public History Centre Manager at the State Library of Victoria and Director of Museums and Experiences at Australian Business Theatre. Sue’s book Hands-on History has just been published and is aimed at members of the public, local museums, historical societies, teachers and school students.

Sue worked as Field Historian at the State Library of Victoria from 1990 to 1997, where she oversaw the design, curatorial work, fabrication and national tour of the Library’s Visions of Australia national touring exhibition, Raiders of the Lost Archives (1994-1998), together curating and producing over 14 other exhibitions. These included West of the Yarra Up Maribyrnong Way, Stage One of Belonging and exhibitions for Waverley City Gallery and Wangaratta Exhibition Centre. Her most recent project management role was as project manager of the Victorian Government’s Melbourne 50 Years On exhibition.

While employed as Director of Museums and Experiences at Australian Business Theatre, Sue managed projects including The Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum Master Plan and the design, build and installation of multimedia for Melbourne Museum’s Human Mind and Body Gallery. Sue has also worked as a Consultant for Parks Victoria, the National Museum of Australia, DNRE and the Australian Alps Liaison Committee.

Sue established SHP (previously Sue Hodges Productions) in 2001.
