107 Cambridge Street Interpretation Plan & works

We interpreted the history of the Foy and Gibson Company to enhance a residential development.

107 Cambridge Street lies within the heritage-listed Foy and Gibson complex in Collingwood, Victoria. This site, an important part of Collingwood’s industrial heritage, was part of an extensive group of factories and warehouses that were built and operated by department store Foy and Gibson from the late 19th to the mid-20th centuries. GURNER™ engaged SHP to develop a Heritage Interpretation Strategy in 2015 to meet heritage permit conditions for the site

SHP’s role included historical research, theming and interpretive planning for the site as well as graphic design and copywriting and interpretive signage. The result is an elegant signage suite consistent with the architectural and interior design of the new development that conveys the importance of the Foy and Gibson company to Australian manufacturing history to residents of the apartment complex.
